Minnesota has the largest Somali population in the United States with 64,354 Somalis, making up 1.12% of the state's total population. Ohio is home to the second-largest Somali population with 21,051 individuals, comprising 0.18% of the state's population. Other states with significant Somali populations include Washington with 14,997 (0.19%), Virginia with 3,953 (0.04%), and Georgia with 3,538 (0.03%).

Somali populations are also present in several other states, albeit in smaller numbers, such as North Dakota (2,320), South Dakota (804), and Alaska (281). In some states, such as Arkansas and Delaware, there are no recorded Somali residents. Overall, Somalis represent a small but growing percentage of the US population, with an estimated total of 116,520 individuals spread across 40 states as of 2021.
