English Population by State 2024

English Americans are the largest ancestral group in the United States, representing over 22% of the population. Utah has the highest percentage of English ancestry with almost 24%, followed by Maine with 19%. Other states with high percentages of English ancestry include Vermont, New Hampshire, and Idaho. Meanwhile, Hawaii and North Dakota have the lowest percentages of English ancestry with just over 4%.

In terms of total numbers, California has the largest population of English Americans with over 2.2 million, followed by Texas with almost 1.9 million and Florida with 1.5 million.
