Additionally, it is important to mention that the age-standardization rate of skin cancer per 100,000 people in Australia is 36.6. It is also important to point out that countries are ranked based on their age-standardization rate of skin cancer, not the total number of cases. Also, the age-standardization rate is the rate of disease that would exist among a population if that population possessed a standard age structure.

New Zealand

When it comes to skin cancer rates by country, the nation of New Zealand is number two. The number of cases of skin cancer that New Zealand had in 2020 was 2,801. You should also know that the ASR for skin cancer in New Zealand was 31.6. Again, the countries are ranked based on their ASR for skin cancer. They are not ranked on the total cases of skin cancer.

Denmark

The nation of Denmark takes the number three spot on this list. The country of Denmark had a total of 2,886 cases of melanoma skin cancer in 2020. Denmark also had an ASR of 29.7. This high ASR puts it behind only New Zealand and Australia on this list. It is worth noting that Denmark was higher on the list when you look at skin cancer ASR for women. In fact, Denmark was #1 in skin cancer ASR for women in 2020, with an ASR of 33.6.

The Netherlands

The top five of this list contain a number of Scandinavian countries. That trend continues with the nation of the Netherlands taking the number four spot on this list. The Netherlands had 8,310 cases of melanoma skin cancer in 2020.

More importantly, the Netherlands had an ASR for skin cancer of 27.0 in 2020. When you look at the skin cancer ASR just for men in 2020, the Netherlands moves up to #3 on that list. The Netherlands had a skin cancer ASR of 27.1 for men in 2020.

Norway

Norway had the fifth-highest skin cancer ASR in 2020. Its skin cancer ASR was 26.4. However, if you look at the total number of melanoma skin cancer cases in Norway in 2020, that number is 2,567. It is interesting to consider that three of the top five countries in skin cancer rates by country are Scandinavian countries.
