This storied franchise is one of the original members of the National League East, joining in 1969. The New York Mets are also one of the most popular teams in Major League Baseball and, of course, in New York. This franchise has also been involved in some of the most thrilling moments in history, not only in MLB but in all sports.
The Phillies of Philadelphia are another of the remaining founding members of the National League East. The Philadelphia Phillies are also one of a few professional sports teams that call Philadelphia home, including the Flyers (NHL) and the Eagles (NFL).
Formerly the Montreal Expos and the last original National League East member, they joined the division in 1969 alongside the New York Mets. The Washington Nationals organization has not shared the kind of success comparable to other NL East teams, but the Nationals are looking to change that narrative.
The Florida Marlins are not only one of the newest members of the National League East division but also one of the last expansion franchises. They joined the NL East in 1993. This makes the success of the Florida Marlins only that much more impressive.
Originally a member of the NL West, the Braves joined the East division in 1994. Along with joining a new division, the Braves also bring a long history of winning, which isn't necessarily good news for other NL East teams.
