You may not hear about ISIS as much as you did in 2015-2016. However, reports indicate that just about as many numbers of attacks from 2017 to 2019 occurred as in earlier years. Activity by this extreme terrorist group that may give peaceful Muslims a bad name continued to heighten for many periods, and it didn’t stop.
Countries targeted by ISIS the most as of March 2022 include Nigeria, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Pakistan, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo also experienced a high number of attacks this year. These same locations suffered other terrors at least a few years before this.
In March 2022, Nigeria confirmed the most ISIS attacks. Then, on April 16, 2022, a report indicated that the Nigerian air force killed 70 alleged ISIS terrorists. This happened in Lake Chad, an already area known for ISWAP (ISIS West Africa Province) invasions.
Syria has received a reputation for having the fourth most ISIS attacks by March 2022. However, activity in this location may at have fizzled out as reported in April of this year. You never know what this terrorist group may plan next though.

On January 21, 2022, CBS News via the Associated Press reported that ISIS attacked both Iraq and Syria. Apparently, this makes the largest invasion within three years. Dozens of soldiers ended up dead in Syria, and 11 ended up losing their lives north of Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq. About 28 IS personnel reportedly died in this battle.
Apparently, all eight of the ISIS attacks that occurred in this country in March 2022 targeted the rival Taliban fighting group. ISIS numbers in this location were tabulated as being fewer than in previous months, but it stays relevant because of a former ISIS leader death.
On February 3, 2022, attacks in this area resulted in the death of ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi. This leader held an overpowering presence in Afghanistan, Syria, Mozambique, and Nigeria.
On March 5, 2022, people who know ISIS victims attended their funerals. A mosque attacked occurred the day before that killed 63 people. An Islamic State affiliate attested to this incident, which also wounded about 200 more.
On April 19, 2022, new reports indicated that ISIS plans to launch new global attacks. This could affect several regions, including large portions of Africa.
The Islamic State already claimed Mozambique attacks that occurred the previous year in March. Apparently, ISIS wants to take advantage of this opportunity while the world remains distracted by the Ukraine War.
About 60 people lost their lives on February 22, 2022, at a Savo displacement camp in Eastern Congo. It used to house up to 4,000 people as of the previous December, according to the United Nations migration group.
