There are more females than males residing in Chester, with the 2011 census showing that 52% of residents were female, while 48% were male. Chester is a walled city and is one of the most well-preserved in Britain and is known for its medieval buildings that still stand today.
Over 90% of the population is White British. Over 2% of the population is Asian, 1% are Irish, and 1.3% are Mixed Race.
Over three-quarters of the population are Christian, while others identify as Muslim, Sikh, Jewish, and Buddhist. Fourteen percent stated in the 2011 Census that they did not have a religion.
The city is expected to see growth through the years, with a 5% growth predicted from 2005 to 2021.
