The Desert Inn and was established in the early 1900s and was further expanded in the 1920s. It was the first major hotel in the city. The El Mirador was another major hotel that was opened during the 1920s. A golf course was constructed, and many celebrities came to the area to live. The region became a hotspot for celebrities during the next decade, and the city continued to expand with the construction of nightclubs and shopping centers.
Following World War II, architects began the construction of many unique homes that were used by vacationers. The city to this day has been a favorite spot for celebrities to visit and live.
