The Baltimore Orioles organization is one of the original members of the American League East division. This proud franchise joined the AL East in 1969 and has won a few titles since then.
Another one of the founding teams in the American League East division, the Boston Red Sox, has been a part of the division since 1969. The Red Sox are also part of one of the most heated rivalries in all sports with the vaunted New York Yankees.
Arguably the most famous of any Major League Baseball team and of all the AL East teams, the history, the success, and the names of Yankee greats precede this accomplished organization. The Yankees joined the AL East in 1969, along with their arch-nemesis, the Boston Red Sox.
The Tampa Bay Rays, previously known as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, is a newcomer to the AL East division. According to their recent success, they also look to be a party crasher to the Red Sox - Yankees party. And that is certainly good news for Rays fans and bad news for other AL East teams.
The Blue Jays organization was started in 1977, when they were inserted into the AL East division lineup, and where they have remained to this day. While it has been difficult to find consistent success amid a division loaded with powerhouses like the Red Sox and Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays have managed to win a couple of World Series Titles.
