As you may or may not already know, Asia is the largest continent on Earth, followed by Africa, the Americas, Antarctica, Europe, and then Australia. Asia itself is divided up into eight regions, including West Asia, Northeast Asia, North Asia, Southeast Asia, Middle Asia, Southwest Asia, South Siberia, and East Asia. For the sake of this blog post, we are going to focus our attention on the Southeastern countries of Asia.

The southeastern countries of Asia are a collective array of islands and peninsulas, with various mountainous regions, like Myanmar, and plateaus like the ones near Thailand and Vietnam. The outermost regions of Southeast Asia are encircled by various archipelagos and coral reef structures. A fascinating fact about Southeast Asia is that the mountain-like regions are actually the outcome of fractured land masses. No matter what the specific cause behind the fractures are, it's interesting to hear that an entire region's identifying feature is due to a shift in tectonic plates and explosive volcano activity over many, many years.

Situated below China and just north of the continent of Australia, Southeast Asia lies to the eastern part of India. The reason behind such landforms and the prevalence of volcanoes in Southeast Asia is primarily due to the region's location atop two fault lines. As such, there are numerous tsunamis that take place every year in Southeast Asia as well.

Though this sounds very eerie, Southeast Asia is still habitable and worth visiting if you ever have the golden opportunity to do so. Due to its location near to the equator, Southeast Asia is also known for its incredibly warm weather. Distinguished by its tropical climate, the region of Southeast Asia experiences the occasional downpour of rain, but most often, Southeast Asian countries experience an abundance of warmth and sunshine.

Southeast Asia is a region of Asia that encompasses to Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, The Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, and Burma, which is interchangeable with Myanmar.

Thailand

The number of people living in Thailand is about 69,279,051 people, according to the most recent calculation of the country's population. With a population of this size, the country of Thailand is on the list of top twenty largest countries, based on population, ranking as number twenty. The total area of Thailand is approximately 197,256 square miles. If you take the population and divide it by the country's total area, you'll find that Thailand has a density of three hundred fifty-one people per square mile.

Singapore

The population size of Singapore comes to a total of 5,850,808 people, which accounts for roughly 0.08% of the world's total population. The total area of Singapore is about two hundred seventy square miles, and as a result, Singapore has a population density of 21,712 people for every square mile of land. Looking at population sizes across the board, Singapore is the 114th largest country in terms of the number of residents.

Malaysia

Malaysia is a country with a population size of 32,360,988 people. As the 45th largest country on Earth, Malaysia encompasses a grand total of 126,854 square miles within its borders. For every square mile of land, there are approximately 256 people in Malaysia. This Southeast Asian country has some of the largest plants you'll ever see with your own two eyes. The particular plant grows to an incredible measurement of three meters tall and two meters wide. They're massive.

Indonesia

The population of Indonesia is incredibly high. With upwards of 268,933,842 people living on Indonesian soil, the country ranks as the fourth largest place in the world, compared to all other countries on Earth. For your own knowledge, the other three countries that are larger than Indonesia include the United States, China, and India. Indonesia has a total area of 735,358 square miles of land. That said, the population and the total area show us that the population density of Indonesia is about 55 people per square mile.

Indonesia accounts for nearly twenty percent of all people who live in the Southeast Asia region of the world. There are 15,000 islands, give or take a few, in the country of Indonesia. However, people don't typically spread out across all fifteen thousand islands, especially because not all of them are capable of sustaining life. Most people inhabit the Indonesian island of Java.

Cambodia

The population of Cambodia currently sits at 16,431,046 people. With a total area of approximately 69,898 people per square mile, there are just about 36 Cambodian residents per square mile of area in the Southeast Asian country.

Laos

In Laos, there are approximately 7,041,417 people as of 2019. With a total area that registers as being 89,112 square miles, the population density of Laos is roughly seventy-people per square mile of land. Although Laos ranks as the 105th largest country in the world, there's only about 0.09% of the total global population living within the boundaries of Laos.

Myanmar, or Burma

The population of Myanmar is currently about 54,230,060 people. In terms of population sizes, Myanmar has the twenty-sixth largest population compared to every other country and dependency in the world. The land of Myanmar takes up an impressive 252,237 square miles, with the population density coming to a total of two hundred fifteen people per square mile.

In Myanmar, people swear by tea. If you thought England was the home of tea enthusiasts, you haven't met anyone from Myanmar, or Burma. Green teas and black teas are the most favorable beverages of people in Burma.
