Countries with Blue and White Flags 2024
Argentina
There are more than a few countries that have blue and white flags, with Argentina being one of them. Like most country flags, these symbols of our nations typically carry a meaning or message. As the story has it, during a liberation demonstration during the time of Argentina's revolt against Spain, a clear blue sky opened up to reveal a single white cloud. Hence, the blue in the colors of Argentina's flag represents that sky, while the white is symbolic of that cloud and moreover, their independence.
Micronesia
Blue and white flags also adorn the Federated States of Micronesia. The blue in the flag is representative of the Pacific, and white stars symbolize the federated states.
El Salvador
Another country recognized by blue and white flags is El Salvador. The white in the flag design is meant to symbolize peace and world unity, while the blue is intended to pay tribute to the sky above El Salvador and Central America's two oceans.
Greece
Following a common theme of countries with blue and white flags, the blue in Greece's country flag also represents the waters surrounding it. The distinct white cross on the flag is in honor of the country's religion, Greek Orthodoxy.
Somalia
The message of the Somali flag is one of unity, and the blue in the flag is intended to represent the Indian Ocean and the sky.
Finland
Among all the blue and white flags that symbolize a country's banner, few are both as simple and distinct as the horizontal blue cross of Finland's national flag. The blue in the flag is to memorialize the many lakes in the country while the white is symbolic of snow.
Nicaragua
The white strip that runs horizontally across the Nicaraguan national flag represents peace. The blue stripes above and below symbolize the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
Guatemala
The national flag of Guatemala is in part meant to represent its location between both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, hence the blue stripes. The vertical white stripe that runs between the two blue stripes symbolizes purity and peace.
Uruguay
A few meanings were cited for the national flag of Uruguay. Laced with a series of blue and white horizontal stripes, these are symbolic of its 13 original colonies and the country's first nine departments.
San Marino
Another country with predominantly blue and white flags is San Marino. The blue in the flag represents liberty and freedom, while the white is symbolic of peace.
Honduras
The blue of the blue and white flags that make up the national flag design for Honduras is symbolic of the surrounding waters (the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean). The white band in the design represents the country itself and ideas of peace and prosperity.
Israel
The blue in the national flag of Israel symbolizes the Euphrates and Nile rives, while the white represents the land of Israel.
