  • On 16 January 2020, Brazil informed CELAC of its decision to "suspend its participation" in activities of CELAC because the country feels that CELAC "does not have the conditions to act adequately in the current context of regional crisis". However, Brazil rejoined CELAC on 5 January 2023, shortly after Luiz In�cio Lula da Silva replaced Jair Bolsonaro as President of Brazil.
