Pakistani National Anthem

The national anthem of Pakistan is the Quami Taranah. It is also known as Pak Sarzamin, or “The Sacred Land.” The music for the national anthem was created by Ahman Chagla in 1949. The lyrics were later written in 1952 by Hafeez Jullundhri. The national anthem was officially adopted by the country on August 13, 1954. That same year, eleven Pakistani singers recorded a version of the song.

The composition of Pakistan’s national anthem is three stanzas. The tune of the music is based on eastern music but has an arrangement making it easy to play by foreign bands, reflecting the eastern and western music influences of the composer Chagla. Literal and poetic translations are available for the song. The anthem speaks of the nation’s ambitions of progress and perfection and mentions the importance of past events, the present and the inspiration for the future.
