April is one of the best months to visit countries that have a lot of activities to do. April in most continental countries means that the temperature is neither too hot, and neither too cold. Some days you will need a sweater, and others simply a long-sleeve shirt. Scotland is known for its heavy rainfall, so make sure you are bringing a light jacket and an umbrella. Scotland has some of the most breathtaking sites in the world, including its medieval infrastructure. There are many castles to see and explore incredible myths. Loch Ness, for example, is a famous lake in Scotland that is said to harbor the Loch Ness monster, a large amphibious creature that few have ever seen.
It is also home to the famous Kinloch Rannoch hill, which is the site of the famous Craig Na Dun shot for the Outlander series, based on a folklore tale of stones that could take a person back in time to a pivotal point in their past.
France is just right in April, the perfect temperature to be able to explore its many vendors, winding streets, and amazing climate. France is extremely different based on the city you go to, ranging from customs to the language itself. Many tourists see Paris for its history, national landmarks, famous bridges and ports, and, of course, the delicious cuisine. The south of France is well-known for its delicious wines and its amazing growing conditions for fresh restaurant produce. It is also said to have some of the most hospitable people in the world.
While the Eiffel Tower may be the primary reason for a visit to France, make sure to check out Notre Dame Cathedral, as it is one of the most breathtaking churches in the world.
Greece and Turkey are extremely close to one another, and many people elect to grab tours and itineraries that combine the two countries. Both are extremely rich and diverse in culture but have certain points throughout the country where there is not much to see due to the current political and economic landscape. Nevertheless, cities like Santorini, Crete, and Mytilene are popular romantic getaways, while mainland cities such as Athens and Sparta still house one of the deepest and oldest connections to society as we know it. Mount Olympus, the Pantheon Ruins, and the marble infrastructure will have you in shock and awe.
Turkey is much like Greece in appearance, but extremely different in culture and cuisine. Both countries have some of the highest-rated foods and health standards in the world, making Mediterranean cuisine one of the most well-known diets throughout the world. Turkey’s unique position has given it a combination of European and Asian influences, exemplified by such places as the Hagia Sophia. This is the largest, and one of the only last remaining, places of worship that were both Christian and Muslim throughout periods of history. Check out the Grand Bazaar for some unique items, but make sure you bring your best haggling techniques!
