Amazon has the most revenue from the United States, with the United States reportedly holding approximately 45 percent of the market share. By 2020, the United States held 68.3 percent of the international revenue share with revenue at $263.52 billion, an increase of 36.1 percent from the $193.63 billion in sales of 2019. In the United States, Amazon’s lead competitors are Costco, Best Buy, and Walmart. Technology continues to dominate the sales in Amazon in the United States, and across the world.
Japan
Japan is a world leader for Amazon’s revenue by country with 5.3 percent of revenue in 2020 and sales of $20.46 billion. Amazon does experience some competition from the Japanese e-commerce site known as Rakuten. Amazon likes the growth potential in Japan and is investing in more distribution centers and its current warehouses today.
United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is a known leader in the world for Amazon’s revenue. Amazon worldwide has 30 percent of the eommerce market, and in the United Kingdom, growth occurs at approximately 51.2 percent annually. The contribution to total international revenue for Amazon from Great Britain is 6.9 percent. In Great Britain, Amazon’s lead competitors are eBay, Etsy, and Tesco.
Germany
When looking at Amazon revenue by country, Germany’s revenue was $22.23 billion in 2019 and increased to $29.56 billion by 2020. Germany is seeing an approximate 25 percent increase in revenue year over year since the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, Germany contributed to 7.7 percent of Amazon’s total revenue.
