Vadodara is a city in India. It is located in the state of Gujarat, and it is the third most populous in the state.
It has a population of 2,065,771 inhabitants, which makes it the third most populous in the country. Vadodara is a hub for industry, education and culture. It is also the site of the largest university in the state, the University of Baroda.

The city of Vadodara covers a surface area of 300 km² (100 sq mi). In combination with the size of the population overall, the population density is approximately 6,885.7 individuals residing per square kilometer or 20,000 per square mile.

Vadodara has a literacy rate of 94.5%. The population has a higher concentration of male inhabitants than female, making up approximately 52% of the total population. A large portion – 9%, to be exact – of the population is under the age of 6.
There are multiple languages spoken throughout Vadodara, including Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and English. There are many different ethnic groups that live in this city, including North Indians, South Indians and Bengalis.
Population Growth
In every census since 1931, the city has seen population growth of at least 19%. The city surpassed half a million inhabitants at the time of the 1981 census and just ten years later, surpassed the one million milestone. The city is continuing to see fast growth as more migrants make their way to the city for the employment and educational opportunities.
